RADIOLOGY SHORT COURSE I

The study of radiology includes an understanding of the use of X-rays, diagnostic radiology, radiation therapy, and nuclear medicine. A radiologist is a physician specializing in radiology. A radiographer or radiologic technologist is involved in making diagnostic radiographs or X-rays . His or her duties include positioning patients for radiographic procedures; determining the proper voltage, current, and exposure time for each X-ray; adjusting radiographic equipment; developing the film; and assisting the radiologist with special procedures. Workingt in a physician office, you might no be able to take X-rays without additional training, but you may be referring patients for radiologic studies and should be familiar with the processes. You must always be aware of safety issues and follow safety requirements whenever you are working with or around X-ray equipment.
